Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how information is handled in Dokvio-PDF Scan & Doc Viewer ("Dokvio", "the app", "we"). Dokvio is built to work on your device first: your documents stay on your phone unless you choose to use an optional feature described below.

Summary

Information Collection and Use

Most features of Dokvio (document scanning, reading PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text and ZIP files, search, folders, and document tools) operate entirely offline on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your local files or personal data to our own servers.

Camera Permission and File Access

The app requests camera access solely to let you scan physical documents. Files are opened through Android's system file picker or when you open or share a file with Dokvio, so you choose which files the app can read. We do not request broad storage permissions. These permissions are used exclusively for core app functionality.

Optional Google Drive Backup and Restore

If you choose to turn on backup, you sign in with your Google account and Dokvio copies your documents to a private folder in your own Google Drive, so you can restore them on a new phone or after reinstalling the app.

Dokvio's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google Drive is a trademark of Google LLC. Dokvio is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

Usage Analytics (Google Firebase Analytics)

To understand how many people use the app and which features are useful, Dokvio uses Google Firebase Analytics. It collects anonymous information such as:

We do not send file names, document contents, your email address, or file paths to analytics. Analytics data is processed by Google as our service provider under Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's privacy information. We do not use this data to identify you personally.

Cloud Processing & Online Viewer (PPTX Files)

To provide online viewing and processing features for presentation formats (such as PPTX files), files chosen by the user for online viewing may be transmitted to secure cloud storage infrastructure (Cloudinary). This data transmission is strictly used to render and provide the viewing feature and is encrypted in transit. If you prefer, presentations can also be viewed on your device without this step.

App Updates and Ratings (Google Play)

Dokvio uses Google Play's in-app update and in-app review features. Update checks and the rating sheet are provided and handled by Google Play. We do not receive the content of your review or any information about your Google account from these features.

Advertisements

Dokvio does not currently display advertisements. If this ever changes, we will update this policy and the app's Google Play disclosures before any advertising is introduced.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your documents and settings are stored on your device and are removed when you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. Backup copies live in your own Google Drive and are controlled by you, as described above. To ask about, or request deletion of, any data associated with your use of the app (for example analytics data), contact us at the email address below.

Security

Data sent over the internet by the app (Google sign-in, Google Drive backup, Firebase Analytics, and the PPTX online viewer) is encrypted in transit.

Children's Privacy

Dokvio is a general-purpose document tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
